All Ark Wrought Ironwork Ltd's products are given a high quality finish by a powder coating process, once they have been shot-blasted.

Powder coating is a superior metal finishing process in which the paint is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form.
The coating is typically applied electro-statically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin". The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermo-set polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
To obtain the final solid, tough, abrasion resistant coating the powder coated items are placed in an oven and heated to temperatures that range from 160 to 210 degrees C (depending on the powder).
The standard procedure is as follows.
1) Shot blast to minimum SA2.5
2) Prime with zinc rich or zinc phosphate powder to a minimum 60 microns.
2) Topcoat with an Architectural grade powder to an overall minimum of 120 microns.
